Windows 10: Windows 10 update 2004 KB4580325

After the automatic update I entered my pin into the box. Computer didn't open. Tried several times with same results. Finally did several hard resets and was able to log in. ALL previously installed apps open as if they were just installed. i.e. Publisher has no pinned files, Chrome has no history of recently closed sites, Word has no "recently opened" list, and iTunes has no music!


My "Library" files: Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc. have no data. I did research and found those files in "MyPC, Local Disk, users, myname. Have not found my music!


I did go to Settings>Recovery> Restore to Previous version and got a dialog box I don't understand.

This is what was written:

Title: Remove new accounts

Before you can go back to a previous version of Windowsw, you'll need to remove any user accounts you added after your most recent upgrade.

You created one account:

S-1-5-21-313625888-2947089270-3512355455-1006

Go to Settings>Accounts>Other people to remove these accounts, and then try again.


Did the above and was not able to figure out the "Other people thing"


In MY PC>Local Disk>users I found these folders:

Default.migrated empty 10/11/2018

defaultuser1 empty 11/22/2020 day after Windows update

joyco files here 11/21/2020 day of update

may be all documents are here

Public same date

Temp same date

TEMP.DELL-2IN1-Joy same date

Several of this .000 to .004 same date

TEMP.DELL-2IN1-Joy.005 11/22/2020 day after Windows update


Could defaultuser1 be the one that should be deleted?


I need to be able to restore to a working computer. I have intermediate computer diagnostic skills and need help!!


Microsoft updates should NOT take over computers without permission. I have lost TWO days work because of this!!!!!!!!

Please try the suggested methods below.

**Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional Troubleshooters, then select Windows Update under Get up and running, and then select Run the troubleshooter.

**Make sure Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer services are available and running.

Click Start, type services.msc in the Start Search text area, and then click services.msc in the programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

Double-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service.

If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, click Restart

Double-click Windows Update.

If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, click Restart

Double-click Workstation.

If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, click Restart

Close the Services window and try to install updates again.
