  1. Windows 10 update 20h2 wants to delete everything and start clean.

I went to update my Windows and was told my machine is ready for Windows 10 update 20h2. However once the update downloaded and went through it's steps, I was prompted to 'Choose what to keep' and the ONLY option is NOTHING: Everything will be deleted, including files, apps and settings.

The option to keep personal files and apps and keeps personal files only are greyed out. Only the option to delete everything is available so what the heck?

I am not deleting everything and I'm not even sure why Windows would do this during an upgrade. None of my other devices prompted for this so why is this happening?

    Windows 10 Pro

    Any help would be appreciated!

    :)

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.

    Windows 10 forced download

To stop the download, uninstall the KB3035583 update (under "Control Panel > Windows Update > Installed Updates").

To get rid of the C:\$Windows.~BT folder:
    • Right-click on your C: drive.
    • Select "Properties".
    • Click on [ Disk Cleanup ]
    • After the initial scan: If you have a [ Clean up system files ] button, click it and wait for the second scan to finish.
    • Scroll down the list and look for "Temporary Windows installation files" (its size should be in the gigabytes range); check the box.
    • Click on [ OK ] to start the clean-up.
