Windows 10 Update Assistant is stuck at Checking device compatibility


My PC has a list of pending updates that are taking too long weeks to install. Seeking advice, I was advised to download and use Windows 10 Update Assistant. I downloaded and ran it. It is now stuck at "Checking device compatibility", "Please wait, this will just take a moment" for over one hour.

Follow the steps mentioned below on how to check compatibility for Windows 10 in Get Windows 10 app:

Step 1: Right-click the Get Windows 10 icon (on the right side of the taskbar) and then click "Check your upgrade status."



Step 2: In the Get Windows 10 app, click the hamburger menu, which looks like a stack of three lines (labeled 1 in the screenshot below) and then click "Check your PC" (2).



Step 3: See the list of potential compatibility issues. The list includes separate categories for devices and apps.

I understand your concern about compatibility of the driver on Windows 10.

I suggest you to refer to the below link and check if the driver is compatible.

If not compatible, I suggest you to install the driver in compatibility mode on Windows 10.

You can install Windows 8/8.1 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 10 compatible drivers.

Follow the steps to install in Compatibility mode:

• Download the updated driver from the manufacturer’s website.
• Right click the driver installation file and select
  Properties then tap or click the Compatibility tab.
• Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box.
  
• Tap the drop down box and select a previous operating system, then tap or click
  OK.
• Try installing the driver and check.
