    Windows 10 Update Caused Stuttering -- Is It Fixed?


    Back in early 2020, I think it was KB5001330 update, and the previous KB5000842 preview update that caused major stuttering issues for a lot of people including myself. My actual operating system framerate would drop significantly and the sound would stutter as well. I rolled back to a previous version of Windows and have turned updates off since then. Has there been a fix yet or should I still avoid updating?

    HL2 stuttering fix

    Valve has released a Patch for Half-Life 2 which is supposed to fix the sound problems people were having. In most cases this is related to video memory texture trashing.

    • Does it happen if you start Windows 10 in safe mode?
    • Just for testing, have you tried setting "Processor power management" to always 100%.

    FIXED!! Windows 7 sp1 never ends searching for updates

    Yeah, I've been noting it for months on the refusenik thread. They do NOT want anything older than 10 running.

    I still have an HTPC on W7, and every other month I have to fix the update agent in order to get all updates. SMH....

    You provided a good step by step fix. I've bookmarked it for future reference.
