    MBR keeps corrupting after restart

I have a machine that when restarted or allowed to go into hibernation, I receive a missing/corrupted master boot record message and Windows doesn't boot. I am able to successfully repair the MBR each time using Windows recovery console, but I'm unable to determine what keeps making it happen.

    Dell Latitude E6420
    Windows 7 64bit

Steps performed so far: -besides fixing the MBR after each restart or hibernation
-ran system file checker sfc /scannow
    -ran chkdsk
-verified that ACHI was enabled in the bios

If I can't figure this out I will end up just reinstalling the operating system, but I worried that the issue with just reoccur later down the line. Any advice/recommendations would be much appreciated.

  3. Corrupt MBR

I am having a problem booting on Windows 10. Attempting to boot brings it to Windows RE.

I found the following suggestions to correct the issue.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-corrupt/0d38a383-7ff7-4771-98df-a9c7e561c02a

When I ran bootrec /FixMbr , it completed.

When I ran bootrec /fixboot , I received an access denied message (or similar wording - didn't write it down)

    Any suggestions?

Windows 10 - Did Windows Update Corrupt MBR?

Did a Windows update corrupt my MBR?

This morning (8/10/16) my PC running Windows 10 Pro 64 would not boot. After displaying the Dell logo, it showed a line and a half of garbage characters and hung.

Fortunately I do a daily automatic backup of my C: drive SSD using Acronis True Image. I restored the MBR from a backup and it booted normally.

During the boot it displayed "Completing update - 75%" or something to that effect. So I wonder if an automatic update corrupted the MBR.

    Has anyone else seen this?
