Windows 10: windows 10 update failed (every time) kb4100347

Hi, im constantly getting asked to update my machine (i usually keep it updated. but the past few months ive been getting "update failed" on startup. its starting to get really annoying. from my update history it looks like kb4100347 but i cannot find any info on these updates online. I've tried a few fixes but nothing has worked so i have come to this forum in a last hope before i reinstall windows 10 to my otherwise perfectly working machine,

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

Windows 10 Boot times issue


The two are linked as you've observed and as I mentioned.

What puzzles me is the change after the power outage, which would suggest some form of corruption, which does not seem the case.

The other thing that can cause slow boot times are certain updates. For example this update:

So I'm now wondering if the change in boot time is actually unrelated to your power outage. Using WPR as @zinou suggests is then the next step.

 

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
