    Windows 10 Update for Office 2013 Keeps Installing Same Patches


    Hello:


    I had an issue with installing Office 2013 (on a CD, not Office 365) on my Windows 10 platform, and the Microsoft Office support center had to assist by logging into my system. The confusion started when it wouldn't let me install Office 2013 from a CD. It always tried to default to Office 365. I couldn't get around that issue, hence my call to Microsoft.


    We finally got it installed, but now, every time I say "Search for Updates", it always pulls up a long list of Office 2013 updates, it updates them.


    But, if I say again to "Search for Updates", it comes up with the same patches over and over again. It somehow doesn't keep a record that it already installed them.


    As I said, it was a rough install, and it took a Microsoft Tech about 30 minutes of taking control of my computer to fix the install.


    Is there any way to have it recognize that the patches have already been installed?

    Our IT department sent a note about home use (Office 365, specifically), and this warning:

    A suggestion... re-install Office 2010, then try to install 2013?

    Yesterday, August 11, I was going to update Windows 10 in hopes of a new patch fix for the audio problems. However, when observing the list of patches, the list includes Office 2010 updates. If I have Office 2013 (x64) installed, then why am I seeing Office
    2010 patches included in the Windows 10 update patch list?

    I have to tell you Microsoft, I am a little leery to allow any updates to progress unless I am able to decide which patch I can select to update. Otherwise, there will be no updates done on this system.

    Question: Is there a way to select which patch can be installed? What if a particular patch is not wanted? How does one select which patches gets the update and which patch is left behind?
