Windows 10: Windows 10 update from 1809 to 1903 fails with 0xc1900101

I have a dual boot system with Opensuse Tumbleweed and Windows 10 Pro. During the previous feature update from 1803 to 1809 I could not get it to work and resorted to a clean reinstall. I would like to avoid that if possible.


The error code 0xc1900101 seems to suggest a driver problem, but I have not been able to see anything in the logs.

I've tried multiple upgrade attempts including from bootable USB (copied to my hard drive) created via the Media Creation tool. All have failed with the same error. This evening I ran the following command to see if it could help identify the problem


G:\Windows-1903>SETUP.EXE /Auto Upgrade /NoReboot /DynamicUpdate Disable /Compat ScanOnly


after that ran i copied the contents of the following folder to my OneDrive and the shared link to it is here


C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther

any help to get my windows 10 upgraded to 1903 would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 10 1809 update fails with message 0xc1900101.

When running the update for Windows 10 1809 it fails and submits this message 0xc1900101. How do I repair this issue,.

I first tried to install Windows 10 update Version 1809 twice on 4th October 2018 with message 0xc1900101.

A couple of days after my failed second attempt I learned of issues with this update so I stopped trying until mid-December.

I have lost track of the number of failed attempts since then.

Windows Update does not recognise that Version 1809 exists. I then tried using Windows 10 update assistant. Downloading V 1809 was fine but when it came to installing the update it failed at 42% of installation and would begin to undo the changes and bring
me back to V 1803.

As stated, I tried many times without Windows 10 update assistant. I tried many times with the assistant as well but come the dreaded figure of 42% installation completion it would fail and begin to undo the changes and back to V 1803.

In my Update history the following is written:
