  1. Windows 10 update from build 1803 to later version moves files to .000 suffix

when updating windows 10 build 1803 to later version as auto updated by windows update, all the user files under my one user name are moved to the same user name with a .000 suffix meaning that many of my applications can no longer find the files they are looking for. The one user name is a local account and is also the administrator account. Does anyone know how to get round this problem?

    :)

  2. ProfileImagePath has suffix .000 after Build 1803

I have two machines DELL and LAPTOP with Win 10 PRO 64bit.
The first has successfully installed build 1803 which was initiated by Windows Update.
The second has twice installed build 1803 but with the very nasty side effect that the user folder had the suffix .000 added during the install process. Uninstalling and returning to build 1709 immediately rectified the situation in both cases.
I have one user profile which is set up a local account with administrator rights. Both machines are the same.
Does anyone know what causes this to happen? I have checked the registry on both machines. See attached screenshots for both machines. DELL installs the update OK, LAPTOP installs the update with the profile path as C:\Users\Hazel Jennings.000 and moves all the files to this folder causing many problems.
There must be something about the LAPTOP that causes this to happen. I have noticed from web searches that the problem has affected many other machines.
    Does anyone know the answer/solution?
    Thanks.

  3. Windows 10 update 1803 renamed the user account folder with .000 suffix

I installed the Windows 10 update version 1803 yesterday night. Some time later, I realized that for some reason, it had renamed my original User's folder with a .000 suffix. My user account name is still the same. There is now a new folder with the original username, but there are only a couple of folders inside it. All of the documents, downloads, application data, etc. is inside the folder suffixed with the .000. Opening the cmd prompt opens directly into the folder with the .000 suffix.

I am able to login to my account, see desktop icons, etc. However some apps that expect data to be in the folder without the suffix are unable to load their settings. For example, Notepad++ cannot load its last saved session. Also, unable to browse downloaded files through Firefox.

I'd like to have my User folder back without the .000 suffix. Could someone tell me how. I haven't seen anything on Microsoft acknowledging this and haven't come across any fix for it.
