Windows 10: Windows 10 Update never finishing

I have built a computer recently, and when installing drivers, my GPU's drivers were not compatible with my version of Windows. Going to Settings, I saw that windows needed an update. Although I thought this was peculiar, as I had just installed Windows, I started updating. However, while updating, I find that it gets stuck preparing to install update, and then gives me an error message with no error code, or just simply restarts downloading and preparing to install updates again. It gets stuck on numbers like 25% and 40%. I am updating to Windows 10 version 1803. Thank you for any given help.

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.
