    Windows 10 Update Problems

    Hello everyone!
I have owned and regularly used an MSi GS43VR Phantom Pro laptop for the past 3 or so years.

So far I have only faced hardware problems with it... until now

The other day, I finally got around to restarting my computer and allowing it to download the latest windows update.

However, after the update - sh*t went south.

First, when I turned on the computer and was greeted by the login screen, I tapped spacebar as usual to pull up the bar for me to enter my password, and it worked as usual - but I realised something was amiss when I was unable to type in my password. The keyboard just refused to type. So I had to log in with the on-screen keyboard and my mouse. Then, I tested out the keyboard by typing in the search bar. That worked at first, but stopped working when I left to get a drink and returned.

I restarted my computer. This time, the password login allowed me to type, but when I went in, the search bar wasn’t letting me type, and neither was my browser I use Opera GX. So I know my keyboard is working but somehow it gets to decide when it wants to work because soon after, this stopped working too.

Today, I turned on my computer to play a game. The game is very key-heavy, so I realised quickly that, while I faced no problems using the keyboard to launch attacks and buffs, the moment I pulled up the chat bar to greet a friend - I couldn’t type. Around this time, my ALT key somehow got stuck ish, so I’d press ENTER in the game and my computer would put the game in windowed mode as if I had pressed ALT-ENTER, but the next time I press enter it wouldn’t necessarily do that. I’ve tested it, and it isn’t a consistent number of times I press ENTER before it turns into ALT+ENTER so it isn’t a new-fangled shortcut or anything anywhere from 3 to 11 times I press enter it turns to ALT+ENTER. This also affects me when I press the Z key to pick up items - so sometimes it launches my geforce game tracker ALT+Z. I also have an attack bound to ALT, and if I leave my character alone for a while she will just suddenly start spamming that attack without my control. Somehow, pressing ALT again seems to make her stop spamming - but she’ll up and do it again at random sometimes.

I have restarted my computer multiple times and attempted updating and uninstalling my keyboard drivers, but nothing seems to solve this problem. I can log into my computer, and all the typing will be working just fine for a while, but out of the blue it’ll just stop working. I’ve run virus scans and they came up with nothing as well.

This is concerning as I will be flying overseas for university in less than 2 weeks and I don’t know where I can go for this kind of support, and I don’t really have time to do so either.
Have any of you faced similar issues and managed to solve them? Can anyone help me?

    Many thanks in advance.

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

  3. New install Windows 10 (issue solved)

It's good that you're not experiencing any issues. Unfortunately many folks are, a quick Google search will show the same info im offering the OP.

    Heres a couple examples:

    Here

    Here

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

    Windows 10 Update Problems

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
