Windows 10: Windows 10 Update Version 20H2 "Failed to Install with Error Code 0x800f081f

This update tries to install daily. On the Windows Update page under Settings, give a code of 0x8000ffff. I have followed suggestions from previous posts about this code problem and have done "sfc / scannow" and also "dism / online / cleanup-image / checkhealth" at the command prompt. Both complete without errors. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Windows 10 20H2 OS Build 19042.661 0x800f081f errors when updating

This is something I've been trying to resolve for weeks. I'm willing to pay someone for any type of avail or resolution to this issue. I'm currently on Windows 10 version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.661) I've tried updating to the latest KBs on this version which are KB4592438, KB4598242, KB4598291. I've also tried opting in for Windows Insider builds and get the same error. I don't use any antiviruses, and have Windows 10 Defender disabled on my machine. I don't have much software running that could be conflicting, and tried already disabling everything non-essential for the OS to function in autoruns and all non-Microsoft services and get the same errors. Here is a list of things I've already attempted and tried.

• Disabled/Enabled .NET framework 3.5 and 4.8 features here
• Ran a SFC scan, and a DISM scan using the latest Windows 10 image off the media creation tool for 20H2. Followed this guide on tenforums using option 1 on step 6. Also tried the automated Windows 10 update troubleshooter in Windows 10 settings.
• Pointed alternative source file path for .NET via group policy by mounting the ISO downloaded using the media creation tool inside the \sources\sxs folder
• Reset group policy and ran gpupdate /force
• Tried the .NET repair tool made by Microsoft, and installing it manually to no avail. No errors upon installation and installs fine
• Tried the Windows Update Reset Tool provided by Microsoft
• Tried a in-place upgrade and it fails I get this error code: "0x800707E7 - 0x3000D the installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation. This is a issue of its own. I've already tried uninstalling most of my drivers on my machine and reinstalling them.
• Tried uninstalling the KB in appwiz.cpl via installed updates, and fails and gives a generic error code that it could not be uninstalled.
• Tried installing .CAB update files manually and gives the same errors.

I've already posted this on other forums, and had some users confirming with me that they had the same problems. Also noted users having the same issue on the TenForums update KB thread here as well. I've done multiple searches on other forums, and found no solution provided to resolve this error that works. Not sure if this version I'm on is bugged or not. I've already provided feedback to Microsoft to get it reported if its a bug or not. I appreciate any type of assistance, is greatly appreciated. I probably could have reinstalled Windows 10 and would take less time, but I don't give up easily when trying to resolve these kind of issues. I might just wait until the next major update for Windows 10 which usually resolve these kind of problems from my experience.

 

Error 0x800f081f tried @ install KB4598242 WAS at ver 20H2 B 19042.685

*Sad Help? Home version 64 bit. Win update called for update to 19042.746 but it failed to error code 0x800f081f. Disk cleanup tried again, same error from WU. Tried sfc, same error code WU. SFC reported it could not find 4 reg. entry values 'missing' along with 2 'qmgr*.dat entries in the Admin sfc window (plus) a comment that some files were not repairable (paraphrase). Tried a system restore (only one I had was 26 Dec 2020 at 20H2 B 19042.630, same error with trying to get to B 19042.746 in win updates. I even downloaded the KB4598242 file from here in TF's, every one failed without giving a reason (except the error code in WU). This is an older laptop without a UEFI (imbedded license??) so it was an upgrade from win 7 to win 10 home 64bit. Until this 'burp', no problems using WU. *Sad


My question is what would you suggest that would get me to the latest 20H2? Right now stuck on 19042.630 ver of 20H2. Oh, SSU is installed (KB4598481). I do not know if I could 'go back' to b 19042.685 by undoing the system restore (restore was last night late, since then I might have done a disk cleanup) but will that solve anything?

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709 - Error 0x800f081f

I reinstalled Win10 on 2 computers from image created with MediaCreationTool several days ago (clean, with wiping drive C). Both from same image. My desktop computer with Pro version works fine, but my ASUS X93S notebook (Win10 Home) gives me errors:

I installed Update KB4043961 for x64 (at first it said something about wrong version, at second attempt it said "already installed"). Also tried Update troubleshooter, it said I have some issues, said it fixed it, but issue remains.
