Windows 10: Windows 10 Update - Wifi speed now limited

Hello there,


I have installed "Version 1809 OS Build 17763.316" recently, and have had wifi speed issues ever since on Windows 10. My wife's macbook is fine, and our cellphones are unaffected by the speed decrease.


I have ran about 30 speed tests today, and I seem to be capped at 5mbps. Three of those times I somehow went up to just under 10mbps. My download speed should be 50mbps.


I have tried both 5ghz and 2.4ghz.

I have tried both my wireless dongle and the built in wireless adapter.

I have updated all the drivers.

I uninstalled and re-downloaded the drivers.

I have restarted my router multiple times.

I did a factory reset of the router.

I did a network troubleshoot, which found nothing.

I did a disk cleanup.


I looked through many similar (older) issues with wifi speed and none of the solutions have worked for me so far. I found this issue a few pages back for a wired connection (also limiting to 5mbps), but his issue was resolved with a simple router reset. So far, this has not been the case for me.


Any insight into this would be great.

Windows 10 Home - WIFI Slow internet speed - limited

I Have installed on my brand new laptop windows 10 Home "already updated", I have a 10 Mbps internet connection but only reaches 1.2 Mbps, I ran a speed test on my phone that uses the same WiFi and is reaching 9 Mbps. Something is limiting the bandwidth
almost in 90% of its capacity, WiFi driver is Updated and I'm sitting next to the modem to get a better signal strength and I get full signal bars but the speed still the same, I already tried some basic troubleshooting suggested by Microsoft but still does
not work, I don't think something is consuming the bandwidth because my phone gets a good speed. I don't know what else to do.

Windows 10 Limit Wifi Speed

Hello,

I am using Windows 10 Pro. Recently more than a month already(after installing Windows 10 2018 update ), I notice my wifi speed is really slow. After I did some trial, I notice I get 30mbps on windows startup, then after 5 minutes, my speed gets limited to
6mbps until I shut down my comp. This led me to believe there is a background app that is limiting my wifi speed.

I have disabled all external programs from starting automatically, and most probably it is a system or Windows related app that is slowing down my wifi.

All my other devices gets 30mbps on wifi except for Windows 10 Pro.

I have tried all tweaks and tips from discussion forums but none have worked.

Below are the network speed tests a few minutes after starting up Windows 10 Pro. No antivirus running, all startup programs disabled. It suddenly drops from 31,79MBPS to 4MBPS? This happens regularly and persistently.

 

Windows 10 download speed issues

Try this method:

• First of all from Start Menu, open Settings (Type settings in the search bar and it will appear).
• locate and select “Update and Security“.
• in this window, Locate “Advanced Options”. Click on it.
• In Advanced Options; Click on “Choose How Updates are Delivered“.
• Turn off Updates from more than one place.

Your system will not work as a seeder for other Windows 10 users. It will give sudden boast to your Slow internet speed.
