Windows 10: Windows 10 Updates Will Not Install (Error 0x80070002)

Hi Experts,

I got the error above (no updates installed), followed the advice here:
SFC Corrupt Files Solved - Windows 10 Forums

And also tried in-place upgrade (both refresh and reset) by following the steps here:
Refresh Windows 10 Installation Upgrade Tutorials

and both failed. I have no idea what else to do.
Can anyone peek at the attached DISM.log and shed a light?

0x80070002 error windows 10

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in response. Are you still facing the issue? Were you able to successfully install Windows 10?

Usually Windows Update errors "0x80070002" shows up when some files in the Windows Update are missing, even though the update is downloaded and extracted successfully.

Updates KB3081448 KB3081449 fail to install

So far only KB3081441 and KB3081452 have succeeded - all others fail with error code 80070002.

Seamless update from 7.1

Run Windows Defender - no 3rd party anti-virus

First orange screen ends with 30%

Second orange screens ends with 58%

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070002: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081444).

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070002: Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081449).

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070002: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081448).

1. Have renamed Windows\SoftwareDistribution and Windows\System32\catroot2 folders before installation.

2. Dropped firewall.

3. Also followed procedure for a clean boot - all no help.

I can furnish logs/etc upon request!

 

If you use a usb mouse - disconnect the mouse and try again.

 

Please post the Panther logs (by default they may be hidden)
Download and install everything to make search efficient: voidtools

2) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
3) sfc /scannow
4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
5) chkdsk /scan
6) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
