  1. Windows 10 Upgrade from W7, Installation Problem, Driver Related?

    We're trying to upgrade the office to 10 since all our program vendors are threatening terrible things about the W7 support ending. Some computers had no problem.

    The others get through the initial process, reboot, and then go straight into a screen that makes you either reboot and rollback, or go to advanced options. The checking tool there finds nothing. SFC and chkdsk find no issues either.

    The computers in question are Dell Precision T3600. Dell, of course, has no idea why this is happening.

    The relevant part of the setupact log is (and this is maybe 10-12 lines into the log):

    2020-01-07 16:22:30, Info MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext: Loaded server(C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\ReplacementManifests\Microsoft-Windows-RasServer-MigPlugin\RasMigPlugin.dll)

    2020-01-07 16:22:31, Error [0x08085f] MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext: LoadLibraryExW(C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\ReplacementManifests\Microsoft-Windows-RasServer-MigPlugin\RasMigPlugin.dll, LOAD_WITH_ALTERED_SEARCH_PATH) failed gle=0x7f.[gle=0x0000007f]

    2020-01-07 16:22:31, Info MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext: File is present, most likely it does not load on the current OS version

    2020-01-07 16:22:31, Error [0x080863] MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::COMGenericThreadingHostThreadProc: LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext() failed hr=0x8007007f.[gle=0x0000007f]

    and the associated setuperr log is:

    2020-01-07 16:22:31, Error [0x08085f] MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext: LoadLibraryExW(C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\ReplacementManifests\Microsoft-Windows-RasServer-MigPlugin\RasMigPlugin.dll, LOAD_WITH_ALTERED_SEARCH_PATH) failed gle=0x7f.[gle=0x0000007f]

    2020-01-07 16:22:31, Error [0x080863] MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::COMGenericThreadingHostThreadProc: LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext() failed hr=0x8007007f.[gle=0x0000007f]

    the error code I get at the end is either 8x80070057 (forget the extended code) or 0cC1900101-0x20017. Search on the internet suggests a driver issue, but I have no idea which. I've updated every driver I can through the Dell tool and telling Windows to search online, but since I can't localize this problem to a particular device or driver I have no idea which ones to try to check manually. I've heard everything from the USB controller to the hard drive controller being the source of the problem.

    Does anybody have any ideas? At this point we're afraid even a clean install won't work and that we'll have to buy new hardware since it is very possible that this computers just can't run Windows 10 thanks to some incompatibility. But the boss doesn't want to do that if we don't have to.

    Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

    I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

    After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

    I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
    The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

    Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

    Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

    i've seen this when the stock USB drivers went kaput. Only ever seen it once - i used a PCI USB 2.0 card and connected the mouse and keyboard to that, and manually updated the USB 2/USB 3 drivers.

    Windows 7 wont install drivers

    i dont think anyone here understands what your asking either when its nearly a 90% english dominated Tech forum.
    Step 1
    reinstall windows from scratch
    Step 2
    install all drivers from the cd that came with the god damn motherboard *common sense*
    Step 3
    update windows
    Step 4
    install misc etc crap like flash java etc etc
    Step 5
    Install GPU drivers
    Step 6
    go back to using your pc without issue.
