    Windows 10 Upgrade & HD7870 Graphics Card?

I'm visiting my father and I'm about to update his PC to Windows 10 before the offer expires. I need to ensure I leave him with a working PC after my stay!

His PC has a c. 2012 MSI R7870 Twin Frozr graphics card (uses an AMD HD7870 GPU) and Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 motherboard. The PC is is currently working fine in Windows 8.1 x64 with UEFI boot & secure boot enabled using the latest AMD WHQL drivers.

I'm content the Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 motherboard supports Windows 10 but I'm unsure of the graphics card compatibility.

Is the R7870 Twin Frozr graphics card fully supported in Windows 10 and are there any issues I need to consider before upgrading to Windows 10 using this graphics card?

I'll be taking a full Macrium Reflect backup of the current installation before upgrading.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 fonts are blurry and hard to read

I tried this and it didn't help unfortunately. I think this is due to how ATI implemented overscaling in the HD7870 chips at the hardware level. Microsoft clearly doesn't care about the older graphics cards so until I get a new GPU or downgrade back to
    Windows 7 I'm probably SOL.

  3. Windows will only use 2 out of 3 monitors after upgrading to windows 10

After upgrading to windows 10, I cannot use all three of my monitors.

Three are displayed as being connected in Catalyst Control Centre, but only two can be used, the other one is shown as disabled.

I am running an ASUS Radeon HD7870 GPU with catalyst 15.7.1 drivers.

Yes, it is fully supported even with newest drivers from AMD. HD6xxx and older are relegated to "Legacy" but are also supported.

Cards before "R" series don't support DirectX 12 fully.

Thanks. WHQL driver Crimson Edition 16.3.2 dated 28 March 16 is currently installed so I'll keep using that one.

Close enough, most newer drivers do is to make them more compatible with some games that had problems or add presets for some games.
