Well yeah users still say no to edge, honestly microsoft should have just left it out. and waited to release it when it was more completed. as of right now i think its just a basic browser. if you want basic then it for use. but until I can use extension and the option for a menu bar would be nice too. its will just sit there not needed. idk about speeds on browser really at this point they all seem the same to me speed wise. and dont give me that nonsense about edge intergrated well with cortana i have that spyware disable. actually I have turned off many things removed many basic windows 10 apps with powershell and disabled all that spyware stuff.

I agree that MS should have waited until Edge was more mature before they released it the general public. MS should of learnt a lesson by what happened when they released Windows 8 to early. As for it's speed. With all the variables that can effect the speed of a browser how can anyone prove that browser A is faster than browser B?

MS really had to release Edge with the intimal insider build so they could properly test and get feed back on the new browser. If we're honest the initial versions of the other big browsers(FF/Chrome) we're far from perfect when they first came out and now they're up to versions(47 FF/50 Chrome). Given how new Edge is I have to say that it's really not that bad and the insider version(build 14361) it works very good with the extensions.

When the anniversary update comes down I plan on using Edge a lot more.

Thank you for the update on Edge Browser and what is coming.
I have used Edge from the very first day I upgraded to windows 10.
I love it but seems on next build it is going to be even better

They added a pin option to the tabs like FF/Chrome has which is really nice. Given how new it is I have to say MS is doing a nice job with Edge. I just wish they would have more updates to the general public than waiting for the major updates that will happen once a years.

What they should do is rely more on developer testing than insider testing with future updates to Edge. That way updates can be done faster and shipped out faster to the general public. Doing that might upset insiders but if MS can set the goals for Edge and reach them the product will become better faster. Only having an update a year is not going to cut it and Edge will just fail for the majority of users. MS needs to take more chances with Edge at this point to make it better and win users over.

Windows 10 usage continues to rise, but users say no to Edge browser

    Hi there
actually although I usually agree with your posts in this case I disagree.

Developers are better at testing whether something TECHNICALLY works but they often don't do things in the way actual users do --for example many websites have often totally unclear links and appalling Navigation. Same with a lot of application programs.

A bog standard user can often "Break" something that a developer missed --since a developer might have the mindset that "nobody would click on that key" or try and use the program in a certain way.

That's why Functional analysis and USER TESTING is still an important part of I.T - even if it causes more hassle for the technical developers.

The Insider program - while probably used by more computer knowledgeable people than the average set of users is a good way to reach large numbers of people who aren't involved with the development and therefore will probably find defects that don't appear with things like "unit testing" etc.

    Cheers

I don't know how many web developers actually test their sites with the insider version of Edge? When I didn't development programming, which is just about the same as website development, you were told to test everything and hit every button that a user would try. We at times had an independent testing unit try to break the product to make sure the user didn't encounter any issues.

I'm sure MS has it's share of independent testers and a QA unit so they can find the bugs in Edge and they can still send versions to the insiders for them to test it out.

MS can't keep the updates to an annual event. Edge will fail if the do that.

  10. Totally agree with you there I for one would love to see Edge come out quicker and would love to even try it in Beta form, as that is how if I remember rightly they used to bring out some of the IE Browsers, and left it up the user if they installed it or not.

In theory they could have two versions of Edge with 10.. the standard(stable) and the Beta with all of the update. That way they can update the beta on a faster schedule.. get it tested out by more people and let web developers have at it all at the same time.

I totally agree. Beta testing has been used for years. It allowed a mass of users to find issues and make suggestions faster. *Biggrin

The day MS removes IE from the operating system is the day I move on to Android or Linux.

Won't happen anytime soon, there are so many products that integrate with IIS and IE it would absolutly cripple businesses to get rid of IE. Hell when they went to IE11 they had to introduce enterprise mode to allow businesses to continue to function.
