Windows 10: Windows 10 USB Error - not recognizing a device

Looking over past questions, this one has been asked before, I but I am at my wit's end with trying "Microsoft Solutions" so I am seeking other help.


I had my mouse plugged in (I have 6 USB ports on the back, 4 on the front). My mouse quit working while I was playing a game, THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED.


Microsoft tells me when I tried to plug it back in


USB device not recognized.

The last USB decide you connected to this computer malfunctoned, and Microsoft doesn't recognize it.

So I tried ALL of the things recommended. I tried a different mouse, same error. I plugged my KB, which was also working, into the same failed port, same error. I even tried multiple ports in the back, EXCEPT the one my kb is in, every single one of them return the same damned error. So 5/6 of my ports in the back of my machine are giving the same error. "USB device not recognized, blah blah" Double ARGH.

If I plug me mouse into the ONE port in back that works, it recognizes the mouse, loads it up, and its fine. If I plug the mouse into a port on front it works just fine. Only some ports are giving the error.


DO I JUST HAVE TO WRITE OFF 5 USB ports due to this error? This is MADDENING.

This is not the first time, and it's not always the same ports in back that fail. Sometimes it corrects itself. The port that was working was previously a problem, and one day it just worked again.


Yes I have tried nearly every video/article regarding this error, meaning I have updated all the drivers - even made sure to scan them with third party software to make sure, uninstalled/reinstalled controllers, unchecked the power management box that allows windows to stop not ONLY on the individual controller, but the power management plan as well.


Anyone have any other serious ideas? A fix someone else missed?

Some USB Devices not recognized in Windows 10

Hi have Windows 10 Pro insider preview 10532 64bit Pro Intel i7 desktop PC.

I have multiple USB devices connected, USB 3 & 2. The USB HDD is working however my Samsung phone and kindle are no longer being recognized. The steps followed so far:

• Uninstalled all USB devices in device manager including controllers
• Flashed BIOS to latest version
• Updated USB drivers for the devices from manufacturers sites
• Tried new USB cables

Please note: both devices are recognized by my Windows 10 Lenovo laptop.

I really don't want to fresh install, please suggest any diagnostics I can try.

You may receive this error if one of your USB connected devices is not properly recognized by the system. Let's try the troubleshooting steps provided by
Krishna Prasobh V on this
thread.

In addition, we suggest that you turn off the notifications from the USB by following these steps:

• Open Settings by typing "settings" in Cortana's search box.
• Click on Devices.
• Locate USB and toggle the switch to Off.

I am facing a problem. Even if I plug in my pen drive into my computer, then my computer is not reading it. I am getting the error message "USB device not recognized"?
