Windows 10: Windows 10 USB recovery interrupted - help!

Keeping my fingers crossed someone knows how to figure this out!


My ASUS laptop started having OS issues a few weeks ago. I went through the repair functions a couple of times, and it'd limp along for another few days. I, of course, made a backup, just in case.


Yesterday, it just had enough and didn't boot at all. I got the BSOD with option for recovery etc. I used my win10 PC to make a recovery USB, and tried it. It seemed to be working great, until, after it had sat for an hour without progress, I idiot! removed the USB drive, thinking the recovery was stuck.


I know .. I shouldn't have!


Now, I'm stuck in a loop, where the laptop tries to boot, a message will appear saying "unexpected error, cannot proceed. To install, press ok to restart".


I've done that 25 times now.. and tried it with/without the USB inserted, removed the power plug, and wireless mouse. Basically ensuring nothing was interfering.


Oh - and no F key functions at all. I tried to see if I somehow could boot in safe mode, but no luck.


What do I do?! Thank you!
