Windows 10: Windows 10 Users Give Up on Edge

The other thing I miss is being able to pin applications to Edge (applications that I have stored on my SSD that open with IE (or Edge). I sometimes need to run these with a web page already open and to be able to right click the IE icon in the tray and have the application pinned there all ready to go was great.

 

Count me among those who open Edge every now and then. I've tried to like it but .......... well, just read everyone else's gripes about it. Its no contest when it comes to my browser of choice Maxthon3 or my secondary browser Firefox.

Wonder why Microsoft has such a hard time with browsers?

 

Maybe they think because of who they are, people will come running to whatever they come out with whether it's any good or not. Edge will likely be good someday, but I don't think that day has come yet. It should never have been released until it was fully ready to compete with the best current browsers in all aspects, IMO.

 

Probably the same reason they have such a hard time with Windows in general ....just try asking one of those maybe inexperienced maybe B1 B folks or ,B1 a interns or not, or just fresh out of school either way so called Microsoft software engineers a simple question on Windows Insiders (FWIW they seem disconnected. ) !

First of all they rarely understand what you are asking at all and often just reference a scripted solution [you mentioned you already did in the question or something not applicable at all ] and when you tell them that they disappear in one word ....... Idiot's !

I've had better luck with e mailing Best Buy on something as simple as my rewards points not being posted to my acct when I spent $ 1600.00 on a new TV for the office /PC space (this room ) a couple of weeks ago to add to the points for the other 4 TV's here from them since early 2013 .


That's why Google and this place are my 1st go to spot for a Windows 10 solution . I gave up on Windows Insiders outside of a few members there a long time ago .

Maybe MS is getting cheap and not hiring good experienced people that seems to be the hi tech way as long as it's allowed by the marketplace and other reasons .

 

Have given up on edge, at least until m/s fix the bugs. Its slow, freezes, and is in dire need of extensions. All consumers want is a safe, fast, secure browser are you listening M/S ?? Then give us what you've been promising to give us for months.

 

You thinking this decade or the next one ? they never got IE xx [anything] right yet and IE is at least 10 yrs old ! ☻☻

I haven't given up on Edge. It just doesn't have any features I need that Pale Moon doesn't have.

 

I have a test unit set up with Windows 10, since it's inception. I have/had hopes it would improve, but I think it may never happen. So no, I don't use it in day to day operations. Why would I want an OS that tries to sell me something every time I log on?

Only a year ago, the sale of XBox and Bing were on the chopping block. Why is Edge losing users? Cortana is not a big sale point with Google Voice around, as least not a reason to switch OS for, and 10 is no more than a stripped down version of previous releases, with a less attractive interface.

So at last Microsoft has missed the mark with Edge, Bing, Cortana and 10. IMHO

 

It will improve they are improving it all the time unless you don't update.

How do you mean they try to sell you something, You tube has ads, Google has ads, this forum has ads.
It does not mean we have to buy what is advertised.

Cortana is 100% better than Google Voice will ever be as I could never get it working, neither on my laptop or smartphone.
Have used Cortana on here and she understands exactly what I ask for, even installed it on my phone and works ok.
Bing has improved to what it was and only gets the pages you want. not pages and pages of rubbish like google does.

No way have they missed the mark

 

FWIW Google voice works very well on my new 2015 Sony TV with a Google /Sony Android OS you can tell it what you want to watch [or find to watch ] and it brings it and the [relevant] alternatives up without all the bing garbage and banner /overlay ads !

That being said I don't use Bing or Cortana it all may be significantly improved from what it was like you say .

On Edge they didn't even hit the target at all, it misfired and jammed !

 

Everything Microsoft makes is so uber.

 

I don't like using Edge Browser. Sometimes it doesn't allow me to view some of the sites. I have to open it with other browser to do that.

 

Edge does not allow me to change the URL of a favourite.
Edge will not open a pdf on my employer's employee website (my pay advice)

So I will not use Edge - use Chrome instead.

 

Well ..to be fair ... Wds 10 itself is much stable and good now ... IMHO .. *Wink
