Windows 10: Windows 10 v 1803 64 bit kb4100347

Was working fine until today Installed the recent update and now Chrome browser just opens to a blank white screen, freezes and then shuts down shortly after, ruled non-functional. OS build 17134.228. Installed and reinstalled with no success. This laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad T440p. My ASUS N61JQ-X1doesn't encounter this issue, an older laptop yet same windows update installed. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 32 bits to 64 bits

To upgrade from Windows 10 32-bit to Windows 10 64-bit, we suggest that you check and follow the steps/instructions provided by
Andre Da Costa in his article.

Upgrade Windows 10 32-bit to 64-bit.

You have to do a "clean install" of Win 10 64 bit. There is no "upgrade" process from 32 to 64 bit.

Did you have Win 7 Home or Pro. There is no "free upgrade" from Win 7 Home to Win 10 Pro. You have to do that upgrade in at least 2 steps:

Win 7 Home to Pro to Win 10 Pro

OR

Win 7 Home to Win 10 Home to Win 10 Pro

The 32 bit to 64 bit upgrade is a separate additional step.

Run the WinVer command. What Version and Build do you have?

If you have Version 1803, many people have reported "accidental" upgrades from Home to Pro by MS. But that "upgrade" doesn't work!

 

GPU-Z update loop (Windows 10 64-bit)

I don't have better steps - this is all, I have nothing to add.

Maybe it is worth noting issue was on Windows 10 Enterprise, build 14393.187, so maybe you should test on the same.
My other PCs have a different Windows 10 version - Pro, latest Insider Preview build from last week, and there is no such issue on those.
All are 64-bit edition of Windows 10.

This issue is not new. I have had same 1-2 years ago too, with older GPU-Z versions.

EDIT: And yes, I have Windows 10 UAC enabled and set to defaults. If you are using your Windows PCs with UAC off, you likely cannot reproduce this issue. *Smile

Admins/mods - above text with Windows 10 and GPU-Z mention is my own original text from another forum, written many months ago and not now.
It is not relevant to the OP's (NH_3) Windows 10 and Google Chrome issue, as he does not seem to mention use of GPU-Z and has issues with Chrome and not GPU-Z.
The only common point is Windows 10 but that is about it.
