Windows 10: windows 10 v 20H2 KB456830 user profile service failed the sign in user profile cannot be...

My laptop updated today to windows 10 v 20H2 KB456830, Security update KB50000802, and Service stack 10.0.1904,860; afterwards I received a "User profile service failed the sign in, User profile cannot be loaded". Restarted again, signed in as usual and found my desktop arrangement and user folders gone. Found them in the Users files and am copying them all onto an external drive before doing anything else. So, what happened and how do I get my desktop and files, folders, shortcuts, etc. back where I had them so that I can get on with my life? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

When attempting to login to my computer, I get the following message:

"The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in.

User profile cannot be loaded."

I referred to this Help article,You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error
message,

but the only difference is I only have one user profile on this computer. So, I can't login with another user to go through the steps listed in this post.

Any suggestions?

This is absolutely no help. I cannot get to the desktop. The sign-in FAILED! That's what the message is all about.

See if you may be able to use OPTION FOUR in the tutorial below to enable the built-in Administrator account at boot.
