    Windows 10 V 20H2 will always fail to update - tried everything


    Hello...


    My Windows 10 computer keeps trying to install Windows 10 V 20H2 update and it always fails. I have tried all the usual fixes. When I run the Windows update trouble shooter, it finds some problems and tells me to try the install again. But it keeps failing.


    I clicked on Advanced in the update trouble shooter and it showed what it did to fix the issue. Here is what it said:

    I went to a dos prompt as admin and typed: NET HELPMSG 2182 and hit enter. A message came back saying that application was already running.


    Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

    Update History is not showing v.20H2

    I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

    This is normal behavior in Windows 10, typically when you install a Feature Update like 20h2, the update history is wiped, this is to prevent the user from trying to uninstall an update that was prior to the Feature Update, which would de-stabilize Windows
    10, the list should start building again, when some updates are applied to version 20h2 . . .

    Windows 10 fails to update


    When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

    Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

    I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

    Windows Updates failed to instal

    I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
