Windows 10: Windows 10 Version 1809 - Intel HD Graphics Card Driver Issue

Hi there,


I had installed Windows 10 Version 1809 just before Christmas. I am currently having issues with the Intel HD Graphics Card. It has a customized card driver from Toshiba. The latest driver that I have installed is 10.18.10.4425. It was released on the 4th of April 2016. I have had no luck so far with Toshiba with getting a new graphics driver update from their support website. The latest driver they have is from the 23rd of September 2015. The issues that are now on the driver is that when I play videos offline. It does have freezing & pixellation throughout the videos. When I click on a photograph; the photos become distorted when I view them offline when in Photos & Windows Media Player. My current laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C50-B-137. I had bought it new pre-installed with Windows 8.1 Home Edition in July 2014. This laptop has since been discontinued from sale from Toshiba's website since 2015.


I was doing browsing on Google Chrome when I read a news article about the new October 2018 update. I then updated to 1809 via the Update Assistant from the Windows 10 official page from the Microsoft Website. My broadband modem was not showing great speeds when I updated to 1809. It took me about 7 hours to download & install the software on the laptop in full. I was to still able to work on the laptop while the Update Assistant was downloading the update on the desktop.


When I was on the laptop today. I discovered more problems with the graphics card driver. I opened File Explorer to check if a file was working. I had discovered a lot of missing text through most of the File Explorer. When I right click on a random file; it does not show the word "Open" as this option was blank. I had issues with missing text while searching other problems like Device Manager & VLC Media Player. I am also missing the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel when I right click for it on my desktop.


To solve the problem temporarily; I had to re-install the Windows Basic Display Driver. I restarted my laptop and updated again to my previous Intel HD Graphics driver which is 10.18.10.4425 after another restart. Some of the issues while going through my laptop today will tell you that this driver is no longer fit for purpose on my system. The Intel Graphics Card on my laptop is an N Series Processor. It is known as Bay Trail. Is there any way that Microsoft & Toshiba can resolve this issue with my graphics card ASAP.


I also noticed that the Night light button is turned off with no way to turn it back on. Can you resolve this issue as well please?

Intel HD Graphics Driver

If your Intel Graphics card is one of the following :

try this, it works for many people:


1.- Download from this site the beta zip file (win64_154012.zip), and not the exe file:

Download Beta Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.40]

(for 32-bit download win32_154012.zip).

2.- Unzip the driver to C:\Windows\Temp folder.

3.- Right click on Start and choose Device Manager, Display adapters,
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.

4.- Double click to open it (or right click and choose Properties).

5.- Click on the Driver tab and then on Update Driver.

6.- On the new tab click on Browse my computer for driver software.

7.- On the new tab click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

8.- On the new tab click on Have Disk.

9.- Click on Browse and then choose Windows\Temp\win64_154012\Graphics\igdlh64.inf
(igdlh32.inf for 32-bit) and click on Open and then
OK.

10..- On the new tab where Intel (R) HD Graphics Family is showing click on
Next and let the driver to install.

11.- The new Driver Version is 20.19.15.4326 and is digitally signed.

Be aware to follow step by step all the procedure and do not try to use the wizard to update the driver directly, in many cases it won’t work.

 

x64 Windows 10 Intel HD Graphics Drivers

Hi, having a problem with x64 Windows 10 and Intel HD graphics.

It's a Thinkpad T410 Core i5 with integrated Intel HD graphics.

I'm stuck on the basic graphics card driver or the generic VGA card driver.

Windows update looks like it's trying to update to the Intel drivers, but fails with:

Intel corporation driver update for intel(r) hd graphics - error 0x80246007

Searches suggest removing graphics card using device manager - then retrying, but this doesn't solve, it just repeats with same error.

Also tried downloading the drivers directly from Intel:

Download Intel® Iris™, Iris™ Pro, and HD Graphics Production Driver for Windows® 10, 64-bit*
and selecting the .inf file to update directly, but get a 'failed to update' error.

If you use Setup.exe in the Intel .zip file, it gives you 'Computer does not meet minimum requirements for installing this software' - so perhaps Intel driver does not like final Windows 10 release.

Had 32 bit Windows 10 on yesterday and all OK, so seems to be an x64 problem.

Anyone had similar or have been able to resolve?
