Windows 10: Windows 10 version 1903, version 1803 receives new cumulative update

Today, Microsoft is rolling out a new batch of cumulative updates for Windows 10 May 2019 Update (Insiders) and Windows 10 April 2018 Update. These cumulative updates include general bug fixes and improvements for the operating system.

Microsoft has released Windows 10 KB4497093 for May 2019 Update on Fast Ring and it fixes a couple of bugs reported by users recently. KB4497093 bumps the build of Windows 10 May 2019 Update to 18362.53 and is specifically supposed to address various bugs, including a glitch that blocked users from installing new builds.

It is possible that the update will be shipped to Release Preview Ring Insiders soon. At the moment, Microsoft is using Release Preview Ring to do a round of final testing of Windows 10 May 2019 Update. During this period, Microsoft will determine the reliability of the Windows 10 version 1903 before pushing it out to the public in late May.

Windows 10 Build 18362.86 contains the following fixes:

• Microsoft has fixed a blocking bug that stopped users from upgrading to Windows 10 20H1 builds.
• The update includes fixes for the Japanese IME and date/time issues in the region.
• The company has also fixed an issue where UWP VPN plugin apps might not work properly.
• It also addresses Windows Update error 0x80242016.

Microsoft is not aware of any issues in this release, but it remains to be seen if the company or users discover any new bugs.

If everything goes as per the schedule, the Windows 10 May 2019 Update should go live for everyone in late May 2019.

Windows 10 KB4493437 (Build 17134.753)


In case you’re still using Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803), you will receive KB4493437 (Build 17134.753) when you manually check for updates. Microsoft says that this cumulative release includes quality improvements only.

The cumulative update has addressed an issue where Internet Explorer may block a sub-resource download in some cases. As per the changelog, this problem was experienced when the downloadable resources loaded over the HTTP protocol, but the page hosted itself over the HTTPS protocol.

You can now run Microsoft Office setup after downloading it in Microsoft Edge on a PC with a built-in administrative account. A bug that may cause loss of Microsoft Edge favourites or the reading list after installing updates has been fixed.

Microsoft is also fixing an issue that accidentally disabled new App Container feature for Microsoft Office. Another bug that may have prevented UWP apps from receiving keyboard input has been addressed.

The update obviously includes many other fixes, but most of the changes are aimed at enterprises and businesses.

Get stuck in booting after update to windows 10 version 1903

I highly suggest you stick to a previous version of Windows 10 until 1903 is released to people like us. Even if it is released next month, wait until the first or two cumulative updates are released.

 

Unable to update Windows 10 Pro version 1709 to 1803

Have made several attempts to update Windows 10 version 1709 to the latest version 1803 and have not been successful.

I've done the following per some suggestions found online:

• Updated drivers
• Ran the Trouble Shooter for Windows 10 (Errors found were shown to be "Fixed" per the tool)
• Unplugged the printer

Although not at every attempt, I have received the following errors:

• 0xc1900101
• 0x80070643

Can someone please advise me as to what the errors are and provide me with the steps to update Windows.

The Windows Welcome experience will only be shown after installation of updates and occasionally when you sign in to highlight what's new and suggested by design. For more information about the new features and content of Windows 10 1803, please refer to
these support articles. It also includes a video that summarizes the new content in this release:

Also, make sure that the Windows welcome experience is enabled on your PC. Follow the steps below:

1. Open Settings > System > Notifications & actions.
2. Under Notifications, toggle the switch On "Show me the Windows welcome experience after updates and occasionally when I sign in to highlight what's new and suggested".
