Windows 10: Windows 10 version 1909 update has broken my AMD High Definition Audio Device

One of my PCs updated to v 1909 of Windows 10 today, and I lost audio on restart. I investigated this and found that the AMD High Definition Audio Device no longer outputs sound. Tried updated the drivers, then rolling back the drivers, multiple restarts, no joy. It's a huge frustration, as the Audio Device is the only means I have of getting audio to play through my speakers.

Any ideas?

Edit: just discovered that the audio output in the front of the PC doesn't seem to be routed through the Audio Device, so that works. Still want to fix that Audio Device though and be able to use the outputs at the back.

AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In

Thanks for your suggestion, but the sound playback device was greyed out again this morning and reads: "AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In".

Once again, uninstalling AMD High Definition Audio Device and deleting the driver in the Device Manager and rebooting brought the sound device back.

Any other ideas?
