Windows 10: Windows 10 Version 2004. Conflict with Norton Security?

Just run the latest update on my PC. Everything seemed to work fine but I tried to do a manual updated on my Norton security after the installation was completed. Although everything looked normal and running properly in the background, it will not open. Checked 'settings' and it seems that Norton is off and Defender is on and it will not change. Norton Autofix has suddenly appeared on screen but seems to be stuck on 'checking a conflicting product'. Looks like I will have to do an 'uninstall/install'. A right pain in the wotsit!!!! Anyone got any bright ideas about this? I am posting this on my laptop - this Windows update hasn't reached this device and I will not install it until this little issue is resolved. Incidentally, I have had similar update problems before with my laptop - resolved by ensuring that the battery is always on Best Performance setting rather than the Best battery life setting and always checking the 'security' part of the 'settings' section after each Windows update but this would not apply to my 'mains' PC.

Windows 10 and Norton

Hi Mike,

Sorry! The latest version of Norton Security 22.5.2 is compatible with Windows 10. I would suggest installing the latest version of Norton Security using the steps here:
www.norton.com/install. Sorry, I am not sure of the best way to restore the OS to the previous version. You can try the steps mentioned here: How to recover a previous build(s) or your original version of Windows using the Recovery or Rollback feature - Revised July 22nd, 2018.

Two suggestions to try.

• Uninstall Norton, reboot, run the Norton Removal Tool, reboot and then reinstall Norton. See List
  of anti-malware product removal tools
• If that doesn’t work see Turn On or Off Windows Defender Antivirus in Windows 10

Norton Security not loading with Windows 10 - Why?

I would recommend you follow the below given steps and check if it fixes the issue.

I would suggest you to restart the Norton services from the services list, and set the Norton service to automatic.

Follow these steps to run Norton services:

Method 1:

Follow these steps to run Norton services

a. Press Windows key + R

b. In the run windows, type services.msc

c. It will open services windows

d. select norton services from the list of services

e. double click on it

f. At the top of the window, Make sure the service status is started and startup type is
automatic.

g.Click apply and OK.

If this does not fix the issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling Norton software and check if it helps.

If the above steps do not help , I would suggest you to contact Norton for further help.
