Windows 10: Windows 10 version 2004 randomly freezes my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga 3rd gen

My system updated to Windows 10 Version 2004 a few days ago and I immediately had problems. Every task became slower. Everything I typed was delayed before it appeared onscreen. The day after it installed, I couldn't use my computer because after a few minutes it became completely unresponsive. I couldn't even open the task manager and had to turn off my computer and turn it back on to get it going again. I have since used the Recovery setting to go back to my previous version of Windows 10 and now my computer is back to normal, except that I had to reinstall Google Chrome since Version 2004 seems to have corrupted it.


I've paused my Windows updates and am very hesitant to install version 2004. Anyone have any suggestions about solutions other than just not updating? I'd like to take advantage of the new version but not with all the troubles it's caused.

Hello all! As the title suggests, I have a Lenovo Yoga X1 Yoga (3rd Gen) and I've been having issues with the fingerprint scanner lately. First, the biometric drivers were hidden in my device manager tab. I activated the reveal hidden view and got error
code 45 on the biometric drivers. I thus uninstalled my biometric drivers and reinstalled the correct drivers from Lenovo. However, the biometric devices tab is not showing them in my Device Manager now and the Synaptics app claims there isn't a scanner connected.
What can I do to get a working fingerprint scanner again?
