Windows 10 version 2004 upgrade failed with error 0x800707E7 - caused by MyDesk Shield...

    Hi all

Just thought I should post this because I have been trying to upgrade to Windows 10 version 2004 for a few days and every time the upgrade failed during the automatic initial reboots while upgrading with the error: [0x000007E7].

Looking a bit closer in the upgrade logs:

Win32Exception: User profile suffix mismatch, upgrade cannot continue: The specified profile is intended for a device of a different type than the specified device. [0x000007E7]

Error SP Apply first boot apply, online phase: Migration phase failed. Result: 4, specific error: 0x800707E7[gle=0x00000002]

I also noticed references to a local user with the name: "SAS" profile in:c:\users\SAS in the upgrade logs which was causing the problems. Deleting this user was successful but I could not remove the user profile.

I later found out that the user was created by the application/service "MyDesk Shield" by SentryBay software every time the machine would be rebooted, so deleting the user would be reversed again - what a piece of ****! After making sure the MyDesk service was not running during start-up disable Service in System Configuration I could completely remove the user and the profile form the PC.

After this I could successfully upgrade to Windows 10 version 2004.

    :)

Win 10 upgrade error: User profile suffix mismatch, 0x800707E7 - 0x3000D

I have been trying to upgrade my Win 7 Ultimate (SP1) to Windows 10 for the past two weeks, and keep having the same problem.

When the upgrade gets to 56%, the system reboots again, Restores to Windows 7 and shows the following error:

    0x800707E7 - 0X3000D

The installation failed in the First Boot phase with an error during Migrate Data operation.

I have tried dozens of way to fix this, disabling and removing devices, disconnect the LAN cable so it wont download updates, going into MSCONFIG and Disable the Services and Startup items, going into Regedit and removing the OLE.

I am doing up upgrade with a boot DVD from the ISO file, but also tried directly from the HDD.

People have said to look in the Panther dir and look for errors in the setuperr.log file. This is what is at the very end:

    Code:

  3. What is causing Prime 95 to keep failing all the time in the first 10 minutes?

...and what will be your next step if THAT fails to make Prime stable? More volts?

I would think you would want to be using the LEAST amount of volts possible (for heat and longevity issues). That's why I suggested you use a more scientific approach to troubleshooting your instabilty. Meaning, IF your RAM passes 10 loops of MemTest with no errors at the speed you are trying to run, AND Prime continues to fail, THEN consider giving a bump to NB, FSB and Vcore (in that order).

Windows 10 version 2004 upgrade failed with error 0x800707E7 - caused by MyDesk Shield...

Error during migrate data operation - Upgrading Win 7 to 10

Failed in FIRST_BOOT Phase - error during migrate data operation when upgrading to Windows 10 from 7

My win version is Windows 7 Build 7601 Service Pack 1

As the title suggests. I'm attempting to upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 with Media Creation tool.

The actual Error code is: 0x800707E7- 0x3000D "The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation"

    It happens when:

    • I attempt to upgrade this PC with all apps and files saved through create windows media tool.
    • It will restart once and then get to 57% and then restart and says it's Undoing changes made to your computer

    Things I have tried:

Removing all unnecessary USB devices (All I have are my mouse and keyboard).

    • I have 200GB free
    • disabled windows defender
    • file scan for corruption
    • ran microsoft diagnostic tools
    • No registry or corruption errors

I have checked Windows32/Panther/** for anythign in setuperr.log but nothing. I do have logs in setupact.log but I can't make sense of it.

Any help or where to look for crash dumps, error logs to debug this? I'm a dev but I'm not familiar with the windows ecosystem.

I also would rather not do a clean install as I have many games and configuration files set up and I do not want to have to reset them.

    Thanks for any help!
