  1. Windows 10 won't boot into the OS and just only boots into the advanced setup options after...

    Hello all,

So, let me give you a bit of some background story to cover my problem, i was booting into Windows 10 normally, login, head into Steam, and play a game, it all happened normally..but then, when i tried logging in to Steam..my computer froze, and gave me a Blue Screen..now this was certainly not the first time i got a Blue Screen, it also happened to me while booting into my old Lenovo laptop..and so i though "huh..well maybe just a small error." and so i let the computer restart itself...(which happens to be an Acer Aspire TC-885) , and then after the restart, the Acer logo appears, with the loading dots under the logo..but then..the Blue Screen appeared again..and so now, i'm thinking..."Ok, maybe just a small error again." and so i let the computer do it's thing again..but this time, the Blue Screen led me to the Advanced Setup Options, and then i was like "huh..well lemme try and fix this." and so i did..but then, it gave me an error message about not being able to fix it because of something i don't know about..so then, I put a disk copy of my own Windows 10 Pro (Which i got from an ISO file from Microsoft itself) i put the disk inside the disk drive..i let the computer do its own thing, i went through the setup process like butter..but then..two options come up...the upgrade option, and the custom option, i first went into the upgrade option... it gave me the error that i have to remove the disk from the computer, restart, and then put the disk drive in again and go through the media creation tool again (i think)..but it was early in the night..and i was tired to really do much, so i went into the custom..and then i was left with where i want to install Windows 10 Pro...i went into my main drive..tried to modify it but won't let me because of the drivers i needed to have..which were none..i then had to delete the data with the delete button on the disk installation page..after that happened, i tried again, but the same drivers error appeared at me again, and so now i was pretty frustrated, because now i was stuck with a computer, that wasn't able to boot into the OS itself, and only into the Advanced Startup Options, and the disk is still inside the computer mind you..so..what am i supposed to do now? i dont wanna delete my date, but i also dont want the potential errors that are inside the Hard Drive(if they are in that is) i even tried un-installing the performance updates..but still no. Any help? I would really appreciate that

    Thanks again!

    :)

How does Windows boot to advanced recovery option e.g. command prompt?

    - that gives me a 454 'Unexpected error' This tells me that the BCD is partially corrupted.

    The commands: shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
    or: %SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe /c reagentc /boottore&shutdown /r /f /t 00
should boot into Recovery if everything is configured correctly.
FYI, If Windows is configured correctly:
    1. If Reagentc is disabled, you still can get into Recovery but with limited options.
    2. If Reagentc is enabled, you'll get all options.
    3. If you boot Windows using Recovery USB stick, You'll get into Recovery with couple of options missing.

Here's my suggestion if you want to try:
OPTION 1: Will save the trouble of re-install Windows.

    1. Download the image of my first 3 partitions (450MB Recovery, 100 MB EFI partition, and 16MB unformatted primary)
      EFI_Boot-00-00.7z - Google Drive
    2. Run Macrium and restore the image from step 1, overwriting your existing 1st three partitions, leaving C alone.
    3. Delete the 490MB Recovery partition.
    4. From Macrium, run fix boot problems.
    5. Reboot. Open Admin command prompt then run Reagentc /info to make sure that it is enabled. If not, enable it.
if failed to enable, reboot and try again.
OPTION 2: Assuming you've already had Windows backup with Macrium.

    1. Wipe out the first 5 parttiions. (450MB, 100MB, 16MB, C Drive, 480MB)
    2. Fresh install Windows 10
    3. Restore C drive from backup image, run fix boot problems
    4. repeat step 5 from OPTION 1 above.

    Help, Vista Won't Boot?

do you have an hdd that doesn't have important files or is in the raid?

basically what i would do(im a complete n00b at grub and stuff so this probably gonna be a much more painful solution then what someone experienced would suggest) is take ubuntu(grab solaris dvd 3.0 tommorow or download ubuntu from ubuntu.com and burn it) and load ubuntu (by selecting it in solaris dvd 3.0 or selecting the first start option in the ubuntu cd) and go to install(right on the desktop) and install it on another hdd or partition, and it'll replace the bootloader on the boot drive and once ubuntu is done installing, select restart (or you have the option to wait and reboot manually if you want to finish up looking at historyless porn) , and when you reboot, it'll have like 4 linux options (ubuntu, ubuntu safe mode, memtest, and somthing else) and then it should list windows vista as one of the boot choices, and then it'll load vista..

also you can edit the grub file to remove the ubuntu options that you'll never use, change the default os in the list to vista and change the waiting time. edit...
