Windows 10: Windows 10 wont boot without CTRL-ALT-DEL

I am running Windows 10 on a new HP Slim desktop. Every once in a while when I turn it on maybe 20% of the time, my monitor will turn black and stay stuck there. It wont show the "no input" message on my monitor, so the computer is sending some sort of signal, but it just stays stuck there. Initially when this would happen, I would just hit to power button on the tower to shut down and hit it again to restart, which did work fine to get it to start up. I recently discovered that if i hit CTRL-ALT-DEL when this happens, the signal to the monitor black screen will cut out momentarily followed by the computer beginning to boot up normally and it will work fine from there. Does anyone know what may be causing this?

One thing I considered is it seems that when this happens, I tend to have left a CD or flashdrive plugged in from the last time I used the computer. Not sure if its trying to boot from those devices?

On a domain you won't get Task Manager when you hit Ctrl+Alt+Del. You get a crazy screen with a bunch of options.

Ctrl+Shift+Esc has always brought up just the Task Manager, even back to Windows XP days. You just weren't aware of it. *Wink

Go ahead, try it in Windows XP too.

The whole Ctrl+Shift+Esc should be used to get that crazy screen with those options and Ctrl+Alt+Del should bring up TM.

Depends on whether you have the Welcome Screen, or the Domain Logon screen at boot up.
