Windows 10: Windows 10 won't wake up from sleep.

For the past few weeks my laptop won't wake up from sleep. When I try to wake it the power light turns on red and stays red (usually it only shows red for a few seconds when waking from sleep or during POST then turns blue when windows takes over) and the screen stays dark. The only thing I can do is hold the power button to force shutdown, turn it on it repeats the same red light with nothing else, I have to hold the button again to force a second shutdown after which it starts again perfectly normal.


I've reinstalled windows. Run DISM, sfc, and checkdisk. All windows updates are installed. I updated the BIOS, chipset and possessor driver among a few other assorted driver updates. I'm stumped, after the windows reinstall it woke from sleep once the first time but other than that it has not worked.

Thank you for posting your reply. Apologize for the delay in response.

I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

• Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the command line below:

Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.

What happens with that? It would require you to tap the power switch to wake the machine from the Hibernation state.
