Windows 10: Windows 10 - Xbox Wireless Adapter has stopped connecting to controller

Last Nov/Dec I bought the new Xbox Controller & PC Wireless adapter in one pack from Amazon UK.


First thing I did was use the Xbox Accessories app to make sure firmware were up to date on both


Prior to that I was using a xbox 1 controller, connecting to a bluetooth receiver ... I gave that controller a rest for a few months and have been happily using the new controller and adapter since.


Yesterday, I thought Id go back to the old controller for a while. But it would not connect to the new Wireless adapter


And now the new controller wont connect either.


I have tried to check the firmware on the older controller, but loading Xbox Accessories app, windows does not see the old controller, plugged in via USB



I have deleted the driver for the adapter, rebooted and let windows re-install it, I have changed the USB port that it is pluggd into, but still nothing is working, even though i have tried everything several times, with reboots between



Every windows problem ive had in the last 3 years has been because of avast antivirus ... unlikely this time but thought id mention it


Anyone think this is fixable, or do I now have a broken adapter the light comes on ok ... flashes away, but does not connect even sitting directly on the controller

Xbox Controller is not connecting to Wireless Adapter

I appreciate your time and patience to work on this issue. To have a better clarity on the issue please reply to the following questions:

• Are you using an Xbox one controller?
  

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC and see if that helps in resolving the issue.



I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. Click View tab.
   
4. Select Show hidden devices.
   
5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
   uninstall.
   
6. Restart your computer.

Wireless Xbox One controller requires PIN for Windows 10.

Hi,

You will be asked for a PIN when connecting your wireless Xbox One controller via Bluetooth on Windows 10 if your Bluetooth drivers are not updated. It is also possible that you have to reset the controller to remove the PIN. To resolve your concern, restart
your controller by following the steps below:

• Power off the controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button on the controller for 6 seconds.
• Press the Xbox button again to power it back on.
• Connect your Xbox Wireless Controller to your PC using a USB cable or the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.
