What version was your Norton Security? It could be a good thing because Norton cannot even be disabled by the user and Symantec still has not figured out how to fix it yet.

  3. Maybe. I'm in Canada and I have my location set to US. Not sure if that matters - although, I had this same setting before TH2 as well.

Everything works perfectly with Cortana just as it did before, was just curious what was going on.

On 10240 RTM, my Start Menu calls it Search but Windows Tasks shows it as Cortana.

I have Windows 10 Enterprise 10240. But as I read I won't get an update.
In that case, can I upgrade to TH2 (10586) if I make an Usb bootable drive and upgrade Windows from there?
I don't want a clean install. Just an upgrade.

    Hello zdzdz, *Smile

Sure, you could use the Media Creation Tool (MCT) to upgrade to the new TH2 build.

  10. Uh-huh...I figured I'd receive an answer like that...Let's put it this way - the problem is on "my side" due to the fact that I own a computer that runs Windows.

Kinda like the tens of millions of people around the world, ya know...

Now, the thing is, I need an OS to run on my computer other than Linux and OSX. That leaves us with Windows. So, MS force-feeds us garbage that is basically user-unfriendly, prone to bugs and basically unfinished. If the problem is on "my side" what about the god-forsaken numbers of users around the world who do not have a state of the art, recent machine like mine? What are they going to do? Become MS experts over a period of months or years just to use their email?

What about single parents, or retired couples, or the basic computer-illiterate masses? Are they going to throw their machines out the window because the problems with W10 are on their side?

Your response sounds like a typical MS response, avoiding the issue and taking no responsibility. Not blaming you personally, pretty sure you are not responsible for the W10 debacle.

MS has lost all credibility and are infuriating users around the world.

    I have 2 choices : roll-back to W7 or get that 1Mac 27 retina I've been lusting over.

Spent nearly 8 hours working non-stop on this today, just after the prodigious 10586 Nov update. It's a tragedy, no other way to describe it.

    Thanks anyway.

I tried upgrading with Media Creation Tool but I get error: "The language or edition of the version of windows currently installed on your pc isn't supported by this tool."
Apparently Media Creation Tool doesn't support upgrade of Enterprise edition.
So my question was if it will be possible to flash a Windows 10586 to a usb flash stick (with rufus for example) and then do the upgrade by starting setup.exe on the stick?

Yep, MCT will not work with Enterprise.

Instead, you could download a Windows 10 Enterprise ISO below, then upgrade using the ISO.

Well, other than the rant, you didn't provide any details about your system specs and issue other than having a long boot time. That is why I recommended what I did for a starting point. If you would like to continue, then please create a new thread with as many details as you are able to provide.

If you don't wish to go through troubleshooting (wouldn't blame you), then perhaps a clean install would give you the best results if you currently have an upgrade installation.

Yes you can. I just made a bootable USB drive with the win10_10586 iso file and executed the setup.exe and all went well. I now have a USB stick with the latest build(10586) on it just in case I need to do a clean install also.
    Good luck
    cheers

  15. Latest is Norton Security version 22.5.4.24 I believe it is also Norton Security 2016 and the win10 update to 10586.3 version had no effect whatsoever.
