Except there is still the issue with not being able to disable the auto protect as it's still a on-going issue, see hot issues #4.

Norton just about a week ago auto updated to Norton Internet Security, Not Norton Security and certainly what I had on this machine. I called Norton and they actually fixed the issue and gave me free couple months Norton Security 2016 add on (even though I think you can get a 60 day free trial somewhere on the net anyway). So, if you are still having issues with Norton don't hesitate to call. IMO.
BTW regardless of what you have heard of Norton products, I have used nothing but Norton Security products since first jumping on the web in 2001 and have never had major issues (excepting the one referenced here and that has been satisfactorily fixed). There security suite paired with the malware scanner and root kit scanner has kept me safe for 14 years. Just sayin.

It hasn't been fixed yet as if you read their forums, the problem still exists. I run Norton too and have the problem still. If you ever got the Win32.tenga virus, you will see that one will kill any AV including Norton from experience as even replacing all the .exe files, the virus will reactivate once a month when all AV's will show it as cleaned. I've used pretty much everything since the 1980's started with McAfee, then Norton and basically back to Norton since 2 years ago.

  6. Just for the record:

Woke up in the morning, started the computer and surprise surprise nothing worked as it should. Apps not starting, Start up menu commands a hit and miss. Internet connection not responding, browsers not responding etc. etc.
Somehow managed to restart the computer twice, still nothing worked properly.
On the second restart attempt I couldn't even restart or shut down due to a non responsive start menu.
Turned the computer off from the tower switch, guess what, on restart now everything work fine again.

I guess the problem was not on my end, as I did not troubleshoot the system. Will the glitch happen randomly again?

Doesn't happen for everyone... The ones who it does effect, they can't figure out what's causing it.

Yes, except the problem didn't exist in Windows 7 when I got the upgraded version in July. It only started happening in Windows 10 which the September update was supposed to fix.
