Windows 10: Windows 11 and my old printer

Got new HP PC with Windows 11 for Xmas. Went through set up. Eventually tried printing a document. Clicked "Print" button and "Save" screen pops up. Download Canon driver, restarted, confirmed the system recognized the printer. Selected it as default. Tried to print again - same result. It wants me to name a file to save. I click out of that prompt and nothing - back to square one. What am I missing?

Denis - I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by: " I suggest you click on your Start menu's HP group..."

However, I carried out your steps 2 and 3 and removed the printer then restarted the PC and the printer returned so nothing achieved. Could you please elaborate on step 1, thanks.

I suggest you to run "Printer troubleshooter and check if that helps. follow the steps:

• Press the ‘Windows’ key.
• Type ‘Troubleshooting’
  and select ‘troubleshooting’
• Click on ‘Hardware and Sound’
  and select ‘Printer’ and click on next to run the troubleshooter.

What and all steps have you tried so far?

Restart the computer and check.

Also, check for Windows updates.

I suggest you to run the Printer Troubleshooter and check if it helps.

  Then click on Printer to run the troubleshooter. Follow onscreen steps.
