    Windows 11 compatible processors

Hello,I currently have a Microsoft Surface Book a little over 4 years old running an Intel Core i7-6600U CPU @ 2.60GHz, 16GB RAM and a 500GB SSD. Upon trying to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11, I was informed that my processor is not supported. Seeing as how this is not a very old system with quite powerful specs, I was wondering if Microsoft will be expanding their list of supported CPUs so as to target a wider user-base with their new OS? And if so, will this be a more short-term or long-term project? Thanks.

    :)

You do not need to reply to me. You can post in this thread to get the benefit of everybody's wisdom. Such as that of Bree who has also read the Windows 11 section of Windows Processor Requirements - MSDocs and has identified that your CPU is not listed there.

Windows 11 and my processor question

MS did allow only a few handful of 7th gen Intel CPUs for Win11 but other 7th gen Intel and AMD Zen 1 CPUs remain incompatible or unsupported

    - - - Updated - - -

while you could clean install Win11 on a PC that does not have the recommended specs, you may not be able to receive updates for Win11

Microsoft leaves a loophole for those wanting to run Windows 11 on 'unsupported' hardware | ZDNet

so install Win11 at your own risk
