Windows 11 Is Developing a Battery Widget Showing Connected Device Levels on the Lock...

Microsoft is creating a battery status widget for Windows 11, which will display the battery levels of the PC as well as those of wireless peripherals that are connected.

References to the widget were first spotted in the most recent Windows 11 preview builds, but it does not seem to be working at this stage.

The widget will be available on the Windows 11 Widgets Board and can also be put on the lock screen. The way it will look and function is shown through the strings and assets in the current builds. For years, both Android and iOS have had similar battery widgets.

Windows 11 Battery Widget Details and Availability

The battery widget has both light and dark mode themes and displays the devices in a vertical list with the PC battery at the top. For each device, an icon indicating the peripheral, the name of the device, and the battery level are shown. Additionally, the widget indicates whether the device is charging or if energy saver is on or off.

The widget can be found on the Widgets Board and is suitable for use on the Windows 11 lock screen. This brings Windows 11 in line with Android and iOS, which have for a long time provided battery widgets that display the battery levels of connected accessories.

The battery widget would be a useful inclusion for the Widgets Board, pointing out that the board has experienced limited uptake since its launch in 2021.

The publication mentions that Phone Link, OneDrive, and Weather are among the few widgets that are consistently useful and believes that additional system-level widgets, for example, those monitoring CPU or memory usage, would be much appreciated, although there are no indications that such widgets are currently being developed.

The battery widget is still not working, and in the most recent Windows 11 preview versions, only strings and assets are included. It has not been stated when it will become active or when it will reach a stable release.

Like with any feature found in preview builds, it may change before it is made generally available, and Microsoft has not officially announced it.

  3. Windows 11 stopped showing under its Settings, the battery level of the bluetooth mouse connected to it

Windows 11 has suddenly stopped showing the battery level of the bluetooth mouse connected to it which earlier it was showing under its Settings> Bluetooth & devices. It does show the battery level if i removed the bluetooth mouse (by clicking on 'Remove device' option available inside the three dots (kebab) menu on the top right corner of the device's icon under Settings) and reconnect it but that is an irritant and a temporary and annoying solution at best. My system is a Dell Inspiron 7620 touchscreen laptop running Windows 11 Home Single Language version 22H2. Any help to solve the issue permanently will be appreciated.

Lock Screen Weather Widget Disappeared after applying Windows 11 23H2 update

    Dear Peter,

Thank you for providing clarification regarding your internet situation.

In addition to considering network factors, here are the steps and points you should take into account:

    1. Create a New User Account: You can create a new user account to verify if the lock screen properly displays weather and other advisories under the new profile. Follow these steps:
      • Open the Settings app on your Windows device and navigate to Accounts > Other users.
      • Click on "Add account" and enter the required account information:
        • If the person already has a Microsoft account, enter their email address.
        • If they don’t have a Microsoft account, you can create one using their email address.
        • Alternatively, if you prefer a local account, choose "Add a user without a Microsoft account" option.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup of the new account.
    2. Check Group Policy Settings (Available on Windows 11 Pro):
      • If you are using Windows 11 Pro, you can manage Group Policy settings to control widgets and notifications on the lock screen.
      • Search for and open "Group Policy" from the Start menu.
      • Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Widgets.
      • Here, you can configure settings related to weather and other content on the lock screen. Setting it as "Not configured" enables weather and more by default. Disabling this setting turns off weather and more on the lock screen as well as widgets on the taskbar.
      • Additionally, manage app notifications on the lock screen through: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Logon > Turn off app notifications on the lock screen.
      • Enabling this policy prevents app notifications from appearing on the lock screen. Disabling or not configuring this policy allows weather, notifications from apps, and more to be displayed on the lock screen.
If you follow these steps and still encounter issues, please feel free to reach out again. I'm here to assist further with resolving any concerns you may have.
