Windows 11 - Pin folders to taskbar / system tray

I've recently upgraded to Windows from 10 to 11. With Windows 10 I had a couple of folders pinned to my taskbar, on the right hand next to the system tray. However in Windows 11 this doesn't seem to be possible. Is there a way to do this? Am I missing something, or this feature missing from Windows 11. It's a pain as I now have to open the file explorer each time I need access to these folders, which is very often.

    :)

  2. Taskbar Tray icon not showing

Always a good idea to read Blog posts for the known issues.

    • [NEW] After upgrading to Build 22610, the “Show hidden icons” flyout in the system tray may disappear completely for some Insiders, even though it shows as “on” under Settings > Personalization > Taskbar and “Other system tray icons”. We are investigating the issue. As a workaround if you need access to the icons that would show in the “Show hidden icons” flyout, you can go right-click on taskbar to open the Taskbar settings page, navigate to the “Other system tray icons” and individuals toggle specific apps to “On” until the issue is resolved.

It would be fixed in the future.

Move icon from system tray to taskbar permanently

If I move an icon from the system tray and pin it to the taskbar it reverts to system tray next time I log in. How do I move it to the taskbar permanently? I'm running Windows 10.

    Thanks

How to recover hidden icon in System tray on Windows 10?

    Hi Callum,

As you are facing issues with un-hiding the icon in System tray, we will help you with this issue.

Do let us know which is the icon you have deleted from the system tray for better assistance?

I suggest you to try the below steps to add the icons to Taskbar and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows key, click on Settings.
    • Click on System> Notifications & actions.
    • Click on Select which icons appear on taskbar (to select the icons that appear on Taskbar)
and also click on Turn system icons on or off

Hope it helps. If the issue still persists, let us know with brief description for further assistance. We will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.
