Windows 10: Windows 11 Pro cannot update KB5016691, "Update Failed" AGAIN!! Error 0x80073701

I had this problem earlier this year and pausing the updates for a month seemed to work but now I have not been able to update since July, ALL of the "Cumulative Updates" fail. All other updates, .net, windows security, drivers ALL work without issue, it's only the "Cumulative Updates" that fail.NOTES: I have run ALL of the posted fixes.Resetting windows updateRestarting the BITS and WU servicesRunning the windows update troubleshooterRunning SFC /scannow and DISM repair tools always find no issueuninstalling all security software but the windows defender oneDownloading the stand-alone pack

Update error 0x80073701

Running Window 11 Professional.

I've tried several times, but the latest Windows 11 update
(KB5014668) keeps failing with error 0x80073701.

A web site suggested I try clean booting. I tried it. It didn't help.

So I'm writing to ask if anyone has any suggestions to fix that
inability to update error 0x80073701 .

Hi, there appear to be errors in your log. What was the final statement on the screen?

Looks like the two key things are the error number 0x80073701
and ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING

Have you also checked absolute basics:
- check your disk (e.g. HDTune v2.55 free Health and Error Scan tabs
- if ok, run
chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt

Post the summary results of those.

and then list the outcome of each step you tried (keep a record with appropriate screenshots of any error report..)
and post that if you still have problems.
