Windows 10: Windows 11 tag drop-down list not appearing in File Properties Detail

The tag drop-down list is not appearing when I enter the first few letters of a tag in the Tags input box on the Detail tab of the File Properties dialog box.This behavior follows the latest update of Windows 11 KB5044285. I did a Restore System to prior to that update which was “successful” but that has not solved the problem.What I triedOn an MP4 file, I went to Properties Details. File Explorer no longer lists out previously used tags in properties

Tags that I've had input before this problem arose as well as after do not appear as your example shows when you typed in the "m". I am still able to search my files by using tag:male however, so the tags are there in the file properties, but I'm just unable to get that drop down menu as you have where I can select and see tags that are similar to what I'm typing.

 

SOLVED Remove a tag from the suggested list in the file properties "Tags" field; Windows 10 and 11

SOLVED: It is not pretty, but this is how you do it. I found in another post that these tags are created on the fly, the suggested list is from tags that you have used. This resolution worked on my jpgs.

In file properties, remove the bad tag from the jpg. It will no longer be suggested. You can't edit the bad tag, just remove it and replace with whatever you want it to be.

For instance, I searched file explorer for StaceyNorth (e.g. "tags: StaceyNorth", in the file explorerer search bar). That search returned 10 jpgs with that tag. I do genealogy and wanted these tags last name first. I removed StaceyNorth; after you remove it select another field in the properties and hit APPLY, then added a new tag NorthStacey, again be sure to APPLY. Once I fixed the ten images that had StaceyNorth, then StaceyNorth was no longer suggested.

It's a manual process, but at least I can do it now.

File Explorer no longer lists out previously used tags in properties

So my problem is that when typing into the tags field on File Explorer, it no longer opens a list of all tags that I could be typing. For example, if I wanted to add the tag "Male" to a picture I have, when typing the "M" it would already list out all tags I've used that start with "M," narrowing down the list as I type more. Or of course would just automatically complete the tag when I clicked on one of the options.

This problem persists for any properties that I try to change, whether the file be JPG, MP3, the properties that used to pop up are no longer appearing, thus I have to fully type out every tag. I am still capable of searching via any of the properties however and I can also sort by tags in File Explorer. The only issue is that Explorer no longer "remembers" tags I've used before to help me fill them in.

I've messed around with the inline AutoComplete as well to see if that would do the trick but to no avail.

Any troubleshooting or methods I can try that may work, I'd be happy to hear about them.
