  1. Windows 11 TPM concerns

So I wanted to upgrade to Windows 11, this has probably been stated many times but my TPM isnt version 2.0, its 1.38which is back in 3/2/18 and the help page literally just told me how to see what version mine is and how to enable it, not anything about upgrading.Am I just not able to get Windows 11? Or is there a way to upgrade my TPM. Also, it says on the TPM management that the TPM manufacturer specification version is 2.0, does that mean anything? If I need to clear my TPM, I don't feel comfortable doing that unless I can keep my keys somehow so I would also like to know how to do that.Th

    TPM support

The TPM 2.0 specifications can be implemented by a hardware chip, in which case it will be listed in the bios as 'TPM'. Newer processors can also support a firmware implementation of TPM 2.0. This is where it gets confusing as that may be listed in the bios as fTPM or PTT. All implementations of TPM 2.0, hardware or firmware, will meet the W11 requirements.

Need help on whether to clear TPM on not

It's clear as mud. As far as I can tell, it's specific to Windows, not necessarily activated programs like MacAfee, games, etc etc etc. MS Office, I have no idea.

    Here's a lengthy doc on it: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...initialize-and-configure-ownership-of-the-tpm

    TPM update

Don't know if this is the right place for this thread but whatever, laptop informed me that " a firmware update is needed for you security processor (TPM)," now, i looked up what to do and from a microsoft support thing, the last step says to clear the tpm. it has a warning saying to back up my data, i would like to know what clearing the tpm does, and what measures i need to take to make sure nothing goes wrong.
