Windows 10: Windows 7 OEM to Windows 10

Hi,


I installed 64-bit Windows 10 on my tablet Acer under the likely naïve expectation that this was supported and that I'd be able to enter my OEM product key during installation. The Acer was previously running 32-bit Windows 7 so I had to go through the full initialization.


Installation was successful, but when I went to activate using the old Windows 7 product key, it also failed.


I'm now running an unactivated Windows 10 and have no way of turning back to Windows 7 I do not want to either.


I can share the OEM product key if necessary.

This is the full version of Windows 7 Home Premium. It's key features include Jump Lists that keep the things you use most right in front of you as well as it's desktop enhancements that allow you to snap windows to both sides to easily view both at the same time.

Hope this is not against the rules. If you do a clean install of Windows 10, it may, (has for me) accept a Win 7 OEM key and activate.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
