Windows 7 SP1 to Windows 10 Upgrade Successful - Some Good News

I just wanted to post some good news that might be encouraging to others. I have been in the insiders program with my custom built test system since the beginning and have watched Windows become more and more stable over time.

I build of all of my PCs myself and consider myself as a Windows PC hardware and software advanced user. The day before yesterday, I clicked on the upgrade button... dreading what might happen to my main cherished desktop windows 7 system. Even if I got through the upgrade process, I was assuming I would be having to deal with lots of things that didn't work right. Much to my surprise, the upgrade process completed without a hitch and everything is working fine. Since the Windows PC world is a hobby for me as well as providing my desktop tool... as absurd as it sounds... I am a little let down that I have nothing much to do except go through all Windows 10's settings and other such setup chores.

So the take away is, for at least some of us, Microsoft delivered on the promise. Do all the the backups and other smart things before you upgrade... but there is a decent chance that it will go smoothly for you.

  3. Windows10 App issue

    Hi!

I have windows 7 Sp1 installed in my laptop. I wanted to register my free upgrade to windows 10 but when I click on the small window button in the system tray showing "get windows 10", a windows opens up for 2-3 seconds showing please wait and then it disappears.
So, is my registration successful or there is some issue with the app. Please somebody help me out. Thanx

Yes, luckily the upgrade process went smoothly on my end also. All the programs and settings were intact, all the drivers still working. It is very easy to do an upgrade, so hopefully many less experienced users can also upgrade their operating system without a hitch.

SP1 is correct. But I have noticed that some folks have been using 7.1 as a shorthand.
