  1. windows 7 to windows 10 - installation failure

    Hi. Briefly the problem is;

    Have a desktop and a laptop - both on Win7 until Jan when I tried to upgrade to Win10. Used the media creation tool on the desktop and all went well - no problems but...

    On the laptop it repeatedly would not work. Googled the problem and found that other Medion Akoya P6624 laptops were having this problem - something to do with various drivers. There was a solution quite neat - remove the battery and pull the power cable out when the win10 process went into restart. Apparently the drivers interfere on a restart but not a cold boot. Tried it but Win10 then did not reboot at the first 30% done. I got almost all the way to the finish but then it reported installation failure...boo hoo.

    Decided to create the media tool on a flash drive and wipe the laptop hard drive and do a clean install...but think I blew it. Created the tool on the flash drive but did that using the desktop. Then I wiped everything on the laptop boot, recovery, everything and then used the flash drive to install. Great! it worked ….but now it won't activate - at least using my Win7 product key.

    Think I should have created the media tool using the laptop as then the process would have taken the product key off the laptop and not the desktop I think that's what happens but what do I do now?

    Can I use the product key off the desktop to activate the laptop? If I go into settings and updates and select about changes to hard ware the system tells me what machine it thinks is being used and gives the ID of my desktop.

    I could recreate the media tool but select "I do not have a product key" I think I can do that?

    I could reinstall Win7 I have the discs, using my existing product key which of course is a bit blurred but which I think I can correctly read and then try to upgrade again - creating the media tool - on the flash drive - using the laptop this time?

    Don't think I am doing anything too outrageous here. MS is still allowing us to use the media creation tool as my desktop upgrade proves.

    Any help gratefully received, thanks

    :)

  2. Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

    Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

    As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

    Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

    Hi guys,
    Okay, so I wanted to know, I currently have a pc at home with a paid Windows 7 installed. I am getting a new computer either Friday or Monday with an SSD. Seeing as I want Windows 10 now and not 7 and I want it on my SSD how to I get to do this. I already downloaded a Windows 10 file in order to make one of my flash drives eligible for a windows 10 installation.

    Will it be possible for me to just install windows 10 on the new SSD with this flash drive using my Windows 7 key, whilst my original windows 7 is still installed on the old Hard drive. And if it is how to I go about deleting my old OS from the HDD, seeing as I also want to use that HDD in my new pc, without formatting all the games I have on it currently?

    Thank you in advance
