  1. Windows 7 VM running on Windows 10

I'm a staff of a school, and we had joined the Microsoft Campus Agreement. Currently, my desktop PC is running Windows 7 with OEM license. As Windows 7 will be end-of-support in Jan 2020, I'm going to upgrade my PC to Windows 10. I would like to ask, as some of the software may not compatible to Windows 10, if I running a Windows 7 Virtual Machine locally on the Windows 10 of my Desktop PC, do I need to purchase any additional license? Thanks.

    :)

    Windows 7 vs 10

Specific software compatibility. Not everyone wants to run a vm of 7 to utilize certain programs and not every computer will perform better with 10 vs 7.

I still run a Windows xp machine for data recovery at work, certain drives that won't mount inside of 7 and later will still mount in xp and can have the data pulled.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
