Windows 10: Windows 8.1 oem key and Windows 10

Hello,

My sister has a laptop that came preinstalled with 8.1

She wiped the drive to install Ubuntu, but now she wants Windows back.

There is no Windows key sticker on the laptop.

What are her options? Will Windows 10 recognise the hardware and activate? Must she install 8.1 (and will that activate?)

Are we out of luck?

or just use generic cdkey to install and then that key to activate later

the iso i got on my google drive doesn't need a serial to install, it just installs and then u activate it, when windows is started.
