Windows 10: Windows 8.1 upgrade to Windows 10

I have a Dell laptop that was purchased with Windows 8.1 operating system. At the time that the upgrade to windows 10 was offered for free I took the laptop through the upgrade. At that time I was still using my old laptop to do my work through my company. Then approx. last year I decided to buy myself a brand new Dell with the installed Windows 10 Pro. I therefore took my old laptop through the process of Update & Security>Recovery>Reset this PC. I chose to remove my personal files and re-install windows.


After the re-installation was completed all data was gone as expected, windows 10 was operational. Basically a nice and clean laptop that I could then sell or give to someone else.


Now recently this laptop keeps popping up message saying that the license will expire soon. I have in the meantime checked and the licence is active but what I have found out in the meantime is that windows 8.1 upgraded to windows 10 should activate the licence to that of Windows 10 Home. My old laptop is showing Windows 10 Pro. I am not entirely sure why, but all I can think of is it got activated while I was still using it to connect to my company?


How do I fix this so that I have Windows 10 Home, which should be the free upgrade to Windows 10?

How do I get this message to stop popping up! I bought this license legally and got the free upgrade from Microsoft so I should not have to go through all this strife!

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

• Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
• Try different keyboard or mouse.
• Restart computer, repeatedly.
• Google for related issues.
• Update Bios, because why not.
• Create boot media and revert to windows 7.

The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
