Windows 10: Windows 9 Start Menu Concept

Discus and support Windows 9 Start Menu Concept in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; I saw a video of a 9 concept(can't seem to find it again) that was animated. The Start page had a "Go Button" so you could select more than one App and... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Support' started by Tommy, Mar 18, 2014.

Lol, sounds interesting. Is it a recent design? Because I know of one that just came out recently that places the taskbar on the left, like the Unity interface. It was interesting, but I don't feel it would help users switching from Windows XP or Windows 7. That's what I was trying to achieve with my design - a fluid transition from the old platform to the new one.

Speaking of which, I've got another concept image prepared! This screenshot below is what you'll see when you click on the "All Apps" button from the first concept image. When you get to this point in the new picture, the All Apps button is changed to a "Back" button. The Back button simply takes you back to what I showed in the original concept image. So basically it's a toggle button.

This new start menu (if it were functional) can also share settings with the full-screen Modern UI. For instance, let's say I have "Show the Apps view automatically when I go to Start" enabled. That option would also apply to this Start menu. This is a great function for computers in school/work environments, where having live tiles isn't exactly relevant.

  3. I thought it said Jan some time. I looked through the links at Softpedia and couldn't find it again. But the main points seem to be multiple launch on Start Screen and expanding Start Menu with a bunch of enhancements that pulls out from the left screen edge via finger drag. It looked cool. But it was frustrating trying to follow. The man was definitely sp3eaking English. When I could catch a few words I wasn't sure if the audio was playing too fast or he had an Eastern European accent. Also the volume was too low. That didn't help. *Sad

    Thanks! *Biggrin

    Huh, weird.
Well, I honestly don't mind what Microsoft does with the Start screen really. All that I just need is my start menu back. Lol. I quite hope they don't change other desktop elements again. I don't particularly like the concept design where the taskbar is pinned to the left side of the screen. It's just changing things for the sake of changing things; there's no real benefit from it.

  5. @Tommy: no this was some independent guy's vision. It was animated to make it seem like a prototype.

Horrible, horrible camera work. I don't like the constant moving and getting so close you can't really see anything.
Interesting subject for an old system though.

  12. The machine is older than the kid in the video I think. Either he collects memorabilia, or he started computing in the crib with diapers on. *Smile
