Windows 10: windows activation after building new pc

hi! so yesterday i built a pc and i installed windows prior to having an activation/product key. now, when i go to activation in settings i'm met with an error. "We can't activate Windows on this device as the previous version of Windows was not activated prior to upgrading to Windows 10. Go to the store to buy genuine Windows. Error code: 0x803F7001"when i enter my product key, via "Change product key" under activation it then gives me this error:"We can't activate Windows on this device as our servers aren't available right now. Make sure you're connected to the Internet and we'll automati

PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval

• Install system in case
  • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
• Turn on PC
• setup HDD
• run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
  • run realtemp at the same time

• While in Prime95 test
  • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
  • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
  • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!

What do you guys think??

 

Building new PC giving current PC to wife - Windows license questions.

I'm about to build a new gaming PC for myself and my wife will be taking over my current PC. As part of my new build I purchased a fresh Windows 10 home retail license/digital download and was curious as to the best way to handle my situation as far as
Windows is concerned.

What I was thinking... please correct me if wrong or there is a better way:

1. Build new PC and install Windows 10 home via USB drive made from the official installer.
2. Use activation key from this new Windows 10 home purchase on new PC .
3. Reset current PC via: Start > Settings > Update and Security > Recovery.
4. Remove my current PC from my devices via my Microsoft Account online.
5. Have my wife create a Microsoft account and log in to current PC to take ownership.

Is this the best practice for my situation?

On my current PC I see via: Start > Settings > Update and Security > Activation that, "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account". Does this mean I dont need to use the license I just purchased on my new PC build? Will
the activation/key for my current build that will go to my wife remain with that machine?
